ANDREW
TRIMBLE DRAWS CAPACITY CROWD AT MOIRA BAPTIST
Ireland
and Ulster rugby star, Andy Trimble drew a capacity crowd
when he visited Moira Baptist church on 5th November 2007.
The
300+ strong audience heard Andy talk about his life as a
rugby professional and how he managed to balance his strong
Christian faith with his job as a full-time sportsman.
Andy
shared some of his recollections of the recent World Rugby
Cup and during an indepth 45 minute interview conducted
by David McCavery, revealed how he prays before each match
and reads his favourite Psalm as a means of preparation.
He also revealed that he is the only Christian currently
within the Irish setup. David encouraged us to pray for
Andy in these situations.
Andy
also explained how he had come to embrace Christ as his
personal Saviour and how knowing Him outranked everything
else in his life. It was clear for all who attended to see
the humility of Andy and the realisation that he gave God
the glory for the rugby talent he has. He went out of his
way to be available for signatures and pictures, which took
him over an hour to do given the number who turned up.
The
whole event went very well and was a real testament to the
young people in Moira Baptist who had worked hard in organising
and setting up the evening. They, as well as others, were
challenged by a successful sportsman who is so on fire for
Jesus Christ. His passion for rugby was obvious, but his
passion for Saviour and his faith outshone even that. |
